Bring the cows back, Norwich!

The Issue

We are a group of citizens who support keeping Norwich Farm a working dairy farm and oppose plans to re-purpose the farm for other uses. By signing, you support Norwich Farm Creamery in the ongoing establishment of its value-added creamery business and recognize the immediate crisis this farm and family are facing.

Vermont Technical College, the current owner of the property, has chosen to sell the buildings and approximately 5 acres on which they sit. The Upper Valley Land Trust has exercised an option it held on the property to buy it for $50,000, starting a 60 day closing process. Norwich Farm Creamery currently leases three of the buildings for it's business and family home, but their business and home are now at risk. They invested their life’s savings to partner with VTC and start this creamery only to have VTC back out of the deal and would face an unsustainable rent increase under UVLT ownership. We all enjoy the farm and its cheese, yogurt, and milk—it’s a vital part of our community, and VT can’t afford to lose more agricultural land.

By signing to “Save Norwich Farm Creamery” you will help tell the Upper Valley Land Trust, Vermont Technical College, and the Town of Norwich and our elected leaders to work with Norwich Farm Creamery to keep Norwich Farm a working dairy farm and value-added creamery. Keep this important agricultural property a working dairy farm, as it has been for more than 100 years.
