Hungary is at a promising historical juncture where we urgently need institutions that value free inquiry and represent academic excellence.

Since its foundation, the Central European University has stood out as a beacon of critical thought. It used to be a crucial component of Hungary's academic and cultural fabric. Its forced relocation from Budapest affected not only students and faculty but also the vibrant intellectual community that had flourished around it. It is vital for Hungary's open and democratic future that institutions like it will flourish within its borders and offer world-class education to talented youth. 

Bringing the CEU back to Budapest would reinforce Hungary's commitment to academic freedom and global collaboration to address the challenges of today and tomorrow. Such a move to Budapest does not preclude the possibility of maintaining a campus or other forms of presence in Vienna while it would substantially help develop a new Hungary that embraces universal values.
