Promote Inclusion and Equal Opportunity for Enjoyment of Music in Penn Spring Fling 2018

Since 1973, Spring Fling has been host to a wide-variety of headliners. From American P-Funk musician Maceo Parker to American P-Funk musician George Clinton and the P-Funk All Stars, Spring Fling has been host to music across truly a wide range of genres. Nevertheless, it seems we have forgotten one.
What started as a humble student-led movement has since evolved into one of the most anticipated events of the year. Inclusion and diversity are two topics that are very prevalent to a discussion of ongoing attempt to shift on-campus culture to be more nurturing and boost overall morale. It only seems reasonable that we would take measures to promote that same inclusion and diversity we desire in all aspects of our student life. Yet, over 45 years of Spring Fling, we have neglected to include the most important of all genres of music in our Spring Fling event: Bahamian Junkanoo. There is only one group up to the task of filling this diversity hole. With that, we beg the question, why have Bahamian Junkanoo musicians the Baha Men yet to perform inside of Penn's hallowed halls?
The Grammy-Award-Winning Baha Boys are the perfect group to grace Penn's campus along with the 45th anniversary of one of the student body's most favorite traditions. I can think of nothing more Benjamin Franklin would want than to see this group of gracious High Voltage men rediscover "Who Let the Dogs Out?" within the walls of The Quadrangle (please note: this song title is not to be confused with when 12 dachshunds escaped in Hillel during a study break).
So please, help fix a great, big diversity hole in our community, and sign this petition to encourage the Spring Fling organizing team to reach out to one of the most influential groups in modern popular music. And if not for your fellow friends, students, and peers, do it for Ben. It's what he would've wanted.
