Bring routine blood tests to Earlsdon Pharmacy
The Issue
Earlsdon residents are being asked to attend routine blood tests, but for many people the current options are harder to access than they should be.
Older residents, people with mobility challenges, carers, and those working full time can find it difficult to travel outside Earlsdon for appointments. When access is difficult, people delay tests or miss them altogether. That can mean health issues are picked up later than they should be.
Earlsdon Pharmacy already receives regular requests from residents asking whether blood tests can be provided locally. The demand is real, and the pharmacy is ready to help.
We are asking Coventry and Warwickshire NHS decision makers to approve a time limited pilot blood testing service at Earlsdon Pharmacy.
This would not replace GP services or change clinical decision making. It would simply give local people a more accessible place to attend routine blood tests when they already have a request from their GP or clinician.
A pilot would allow the NHS to test whether local access improves attendance, supports earlier diagnosis, and reduces avoidable pressure on GP practices and hospital services.
This is not about criticising the NHS. It is about working with the NHS on a practical, local solution.
If the pilot works, we want it to become a regular service for Earlsdon. If it does not, we learn from it.
