It’s been just six weeks since Catherine’s petition was launched, and over 7,000 people have signed. That is truly amazing and shows the strength of support for improving access to life-saving CAR-T treatment for cancer patients here in Northern Ireland.

I’d like to thank Justin McNulty MLA for bringing Catherine’s petition to the Northern Ireland Assembly and helping to ensure that this issue continues to receive the attention it deserves.

Now it’s up to our elected representatives to turn that support into action and deliver improvements in cancer care for the benefit of everyone here in the North. Access to CAR-T treatment is due to be discussed at the next Health Committee meeting is a positive step forward.

No one should have to leave their family and travel to England to access life-saving cancer treatment. Catherine believed that, and we will continue to campaign in her memory to ensure that other families don’t have to endure what ours did.

The petition will now close, but the campaign does not end here.

Finally, I want to thank every single person who signed, shared the petition, raised awareness or offered words of support. Every signature has helped to bring Catherine’s message to a wider audience, and we are truly grateful to you all for standing with Catherine and our family.

Let’s hope this is another step towards equitable access to CAR-T treatment on an all-island basis, so that no other family has to face the same separation and heartache.

Thank you for standing with Catherine. ❤️
