The Deadline Has Passed — Here's Where Things Stand

On July 1, we shared that the Office of the Prime Minister had responded to our Fifth Follow-Up letter and that the Permanent Secretary had escalated the matter to the President of the National Water Commission. We welcomed that as meaningful progress but it was not the substantive commitment we had requested. We set July 9 as the deadline for that response.

That deadline has now passed.

To date, we have not received a substantive response from either the National Water Commission or the Office of the Prime Minister. On July 14, we sent a further follow-up within the same correspondence, again requesting the response our communities deserve.

We know it's been quiet here. That silence has not meant inactivity. It has meant carefully documenting every step, giving the government every opportunity to respond in good faith, and continuing to build the public record.

On the international front: Beecher Town's case remains formally before the Office of the UN Special Rapporteur on the human rights to safe drinking water and sanitation. On July 22, we submitted a follow-up update outlining the government's continued lack of a substantive response.

We are now at 802 signatures on our journey to 1,000. When we reach that milestone, we'll have an important announcement to share. Until then, every signature and every share helps keep this issue visible—and makes it harder to ignore.

Thank you for continuing to stand with Beecher Town.

No community should wait decades for water.
