Bahman Khoee the teacher that many generations know and love was fired last week without pension. A teacher that has been at Kitigan Zibi Kikinamadinan from the day of its opening back in the early 80’s due to a small altercation with a student more info follows ….
A BIT OF WHO BAHMAN IS:
Bahman as many know as the OG of Kitigan Zibi the LEGEND because of his love for teaching and being one of the longest teachers Kitigan zibi school has ever had. His credentials listed above. Bahman was the most dedicated teachers we know of. He’s never missed a day, he’s made it his personal mission that every student in his class deserved his full attention and support when needed. He gave up his personal time to help the ones who needed the extra mile. His lunch hour his breaks. Bahman was a favourite to so many students for generations. His calmness and sense of humour and his huge heart for the students and the love of his work made him the man he is. He’s literally a human calculator and dictionary lol ask him anything he’ll have the answer. KZ was blessed to have such a devoted and caring teacher as he was. Not to mention for the last few years Bahman has been commuting to and from school from Ottawa which is about 1h 45m from here on a daily basis in freezing rain snowstorms you name it nothing stopped him from being present in that classroom. With always a good mindset happy to see his students and ready to teach. A lot of us wanted to give up many times but he made sure to take the time over and over again and explain with patience until we truly understood the work.
PERSONAL NOTES FROM A FORMER STUDENT 1999-2001 MYSELF Patricia Dewache
As many of you actually a lot of you know Bahman he was my Math Physical Science and Science and Biology teacher from the years listed. All to mention my WORST subjects. I don’t know how many times I gave up I have (ADHD) also I couldn’t for the life of me understand any of the work. I started sitting at the back of the class to not be in the way of my peers who actually understood the work. That didn’t make a difference Bahman would come out of his way even for the rest of the class if that was the case and helped me learn the way I learned. He understood it. That I learned differently and he found a way for me to understand. He truly cared I asked him why he cared so much and his words were because it made him happy to see all his students succeed. No other teacher said that to me before. He always told me I was capable even tho I thought I was doomed. Every class he took the time for me to make sure I had a passing grade for that I’m forever grateful…….
Now what also I’m sure everyone knows is Bahman was different. And I mean that in a good way but looking back today I feel horrible. These kids today have no idea and I mean NO IDEA the things that my generation and the ones before him and after me has put this man through. It’s like we was trying to be rebels but end of the day with still respect because we all loved him. None the less the pranks the jokes sometimes got way out of hand and he would just blow it off laugh or continue his lesson. I swear any other teacher would have quit on the spot if they even went through a piece of what everyone did to him. He knew it was jokes and pranks but another teacher would never have handled it the same way. I believe this is where and i probably can speak for many that were truly sorry for all that Bahman. But seriously a lot of it was out of love and just messing with you. Never once did you react in a bad way or let alone give a detention you looked at us as what we were kids REZ kids to top it off.
CONCLUSION IN A NUTSHELL ABOUT THIS PETITION:
So apparently there was a minor altercation between Bahman and another new student at kz school that costed him not only his job but his pension too. Yes I have facts to back this up. Which I don’t believe is fair at all. This man’s whole entire life was based on teaching and at Kitigan Zibi School. He’s been there since the beginning. Bahman didn’t retire, why? Because he doesn’t give up and wouldn’t start a new school year to just retire at the beginning. Think about it for the ones who truly know him. I bet he’d be in a wheelchair and still keep coming in. Being a teacher being with his students new and old seeing former ones around town asking bout their life lights up his eyes seeing them and their families. He was one proud honoured and dedicated teacher that I don’t believe KZ will ever find again he was a true Gem. Kz needs Bahman, his students need him! Us parents who still go to parent teacher night still need him. He hasn’t just taught us the parents but now our kids even some of your grandkids. To lose everything he’s worked his whole life for isn’t fair over one complication that could have been prevented. I am asking you all to please sign this petition if you’ve ever been a student a parent or a family member or grandparent and believe he meant no harm and the situation was taken out of context. Please we need Bahman our kids need him and possibly grandkids he’s that much of a soldier to keep going.
Bahman this is for you in hopes and prayers you get to keep your job and everything else you’ve worked so hard for your whole life and keep doing what you love cause your the best at it! Thank you for everything you’ve taught me and my children and everyone else in Kitigan Zibi Kichi Megwetch
