We are officially turning this petition from a request into a movement. This has been a massive week for our fight to bring back the subcompact segment and the Chevrolet Sonic. Here are the three massive updates you need to know right now:

1. We Have an Official GM Corporate Case Number!

I have officially logged demand with Chevrolet Corporate. Our voices are officially in their system under GM Case Number: 96052811. Corporate has confirmed that this request has been  documented and passed directly to the product research and development teams. We are no longer just screaming into nothing we are a registered market data point on their desk.

2. GM Just Announced a $1.4 Billion Pivot Back to Gas Cars

The news out of Detroit this week completely changes the game. General Motors announced they are investing $1.4 billion back into their internal combustion gas engine plants because EV demand has stalled.

The Catch: Right now, GM is planning to spend almost all of that money on giant, heavy trucks and luxury SUVs like the Silverado and Escalade. They want to keep forcing us into $50,000 expensive junk with over complicated tech.

3. The Legal Excuses are GONE

The government is officially rolling back the strict CAFE fuel economy regulations down to 34.5 mpg and closing the footprint loophole that forced automakers to build giant crossovers. Before this, GM blamed government regulations for killing affordable subcompacts. Now, they have no legal excuses left.

Our Next Goal: Force the Pivot!

Our original Reddit post just generated over 13,000 views in 24 hours. People are furious. Visited a Chevy dealership in my town, and saw a sea of 100+ overpriced new cars sitting rotting on the lot, while buyers are fighting over just 4 used cars because they can't afford a $700/month payment for a 3 cylinder turbo crossover.

If even 1% of the people who viewed our post sign this petition today, we hit our next major milestone. We need to show GM’s leadership that if they want to stop their inventory from rotting on dealer lots, they need to use that $1.4 billion to build a simple affordable $19.5k Gas/Hybrid Sonic Hatchback and Sedan for regular, everyday drivers.
