In an affordable housing newser on Wednesday, Community and Social Services Minister Jeremy Nixon said rent control is not on the government’s radar at all and the province is focused on affordable, low-income housing.
“We’re focused on increasing the supply of affordable housing, to make sure that we have options for Albertans to address the increasing rent prices,” Nixon told reporters.
“I agree that rent is something that should be affordable, but what we’ve seen with rent caps in other jurisdictions is it can have an immediate impact long term and creates long-term challenges.”

All Canadians, Need to Buget, for Rent, food, clothing Health Care, Basic Needs, It also told Us to think about getting a SECOND JOB!!!!, get roommates, and a few other STUPID ideas. They say they would build more places but the work force is not avaliable! They really have to be JOKING! I have worked since age of 13. I never took anything I never worked for! I worked holidays, birthdays, special occasions,family events, missed things with my own children and Grandchildren, so I could afford to Live.
I know I am not the only one who has missed out on Milestones, cause we have bills, to pay!
Suicide Rates and Mental Health issues are way UP. Yet with a referral, it's months to get HELP! Many people are just under too much Stress!

Soup Kitchen's, Homeless shelter's, missions, all are at breaking point!
I am not highly educated, I am a working class redneck, and I know that all I have mentioned is wrong in so many ways! How about the government law makers get min wage and a second job and pay rent Like the rest of the working class. We are not asking for much. In fact all we want is the Basic's to LIVE! To not go to bed and worry about the next 2 weeks, or who we can or can not pay! Get our Children and grandkids, a dam ICE CREAM, our parents, our friends, we are all just rying to stay above Water!
