I have been communicating with LinkedIn Product & Escalation team at length regarding the recent changes to the desktop version of LinkedIn, which had significantly reduced the features available free and subscription users. I shared a petition on this subject https://www.change.org/p/bring-back-our-linkedin-services (now closed).
Recruiter Magazine (The UK Recruitment Profession’s premier publication) picked up the story http://www.recruiter.co.uk/news/2017/02/frustrated-recruiters-complain-linkedin-redesign-is-confusing-and-restricted/ and shared the views of many disgruntled customers.
The LinkedIn team was very receptive to our feedback and It is my pleasure to advise that the following services are being restored:
Search
The search product team are implementing the changes detailed on the following link: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/we-heard-you-were-making-some-changes-linkedin-search-david-flink and summarised below. Some of the features are not available yet, so some members may not see this initially, but as they continue to release the functionality it will be available to more and more members.
· Postal code radius search is returning
· Boolean operators were brougtht back in keyword searches (AND/OR/NOT). If these are not working for you please send me an example and I will have our team troubleshoot
· Text search for company page will be brought back. I have tested this and the NOT operator does work in this field
· Text search for first and last name search will be brought back
· Text search for job title search will be brought back
· Text search for school field will be brought back
· "Sticky" filters where the search filters remain when keywords or textual search criteria is changed is coming back
Other Items
· Tags and notes have been removed from basic subscriptions but are available in Recruiter Lite and Sales Navigator subscriptions. Members can export existing tag information . Here are instructions for doing so.
· With the planned functionality for search, this should solve the searching contacts problem too as you can search by 1st degree and keywords or job titles.
· Education - they refer to this as LinkedIn Learning, and can be found under the "More" section of the newly designed desktop version. There are also several other of their resources and products on this section.
· Some members may begin seeing these changes soon, while others will see the changes later. Timelines and release dates change from time to time so we cannot provide specifics on the release dates.
· Saved searches are available, and located at the bottom right hand side of the page.
I would like to personally thank LinkedIn for implementing these changes, and Recruiter Magazine for their media coverage. I am sure that many people will be looking forward to having these great features again, restoring trust in the new LinkedIn platform.
