Yup! You've heard that right! Albuquerque's light pollution has ACTUALLY GOTTEN worse and IS NOW OFFICIALLY being seen OVER 200 MILES AWAY from the city's skyline!
Mayor Tim Keller had made this phrase, "The MORE light, the safer!" But his and THE CITY'S LEADERSHIP on white lights ISN'T SAFER! Law Enforcement, Attorneys and CITY unrest has been GETTING worse as our leaders SPEND more money on STREETLIGHT infrastructure and RIPPING UP main streets JUST to install NOW 3 ROWS of WHITE LED STREETLIGHTS. PNM and Abq news UPDATES have had VOIDED contact from RESIDENTS and concerns regarding these lights and THE CITY'S DISRESPECT to it's residents! APD officers have OFFICIALLY sided with residents and described the LIGHTS as "BLINDING CAR ILLUSIONS!" Creating HIGHLY and EXTREMELY intense unrest EVEN IN OUR POLICE DEPARTMENT. And while THE city continues on TO INSTALL more of these lights, NOW ANOTHER 5.73% OF THE CITY'S population HAS DECLARED "NOT APART OF THE CONSENSUS" because these white lights are OFFICIALLY CHOKING the city's resources, jobs and EVEN ENVIRONMENTAL factors.
Our Mayor HAS NOT TAKEN into ANY ACCOUNT of the ECONOMIC STRESS and CHOKING THE CITY'S RESOURCES for these lights, him and PNM are MAKING HARSH decisions for the city as they are NOW FILLING 2 TO 3 ROWS of these lights ON 1 SIDEWALK on each main street! As they continue to install these lights, PUBLIC UNREST, SLEEP DEPLETION and NOW DANGEROUSLY LETHEL LEVELS of HEALTH have BEEN hitting residents, law enforcement and EVEN 2 CAR ACCIDENTS along NEAR THE BIG I. It has HIT me as DEEP CONCERN as I DO LIVE in this city and CARE about it's heritage! BUT, EVEN NATIVE COUNCILS have stepped in with ANGER along with even NEARBY RESERVATIONS such as THE ZUNI and LA GUNA reservations SEEING the BLINDING POLLUTION in the sky. For NATIVE councils and NEARBY RESERVATIONS, this is NOT good news! Because Native communities and Indigenous Cultures RELY on night skies, Abq's WHITE LED STREETLIGHT EGO has crossed A RED LINE and REFUSES to listen to the UNREST of the CITY'S residents, and EVEN LAW ENFORCEMENT.
So, WHAT are THE BEST THINGS we could do?

I HIGHLY ENCOURAGE people to DOCUMENT ANY HEALTH RELATED problems TO WHITE STREETLIGHTS along with SLEEP DEPRIVATION, DEPLETION, INSOMNIA, ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH STRESS SUCH AS, TREE STREES/DYING OR LOOKING UNHEALTHY, PETS BECOMING SLEEP DEPRIVED OR NOCTURNAL PETS WITH UNHEALTHY STRESS. Because WHILE THERE IS A PRIVATE pilot program ON AMBER STREETLIGHTS popping up around the CITY, CITY OFFICIALS are COMPLETELY DISCARDING their CITY'S UNREST and FRUSTRATION as these LIGHTS ARE NOW BEING INSTALLED in MULTIPLE ROWS. I ALSO URGE that you guys SUPPORT THIS petition! Because OUR GOAL is 3K SIGNATURES to GET citywide and EVEN COUNTRY AND GLOBALWIDE responses IN LEGISLATION EFFORTS, to EVEN GOVERNMENTAL LAWS AND CHANGES on white LIGHTS. As THEY are HIGHLY DANGEROUS when they START POPPING UP in rows!
