Bring a Traffic Solution to Mossie Smith/Powdersville Roads!

The Issue

Bringing a traffic signal to the congested intersection of Mossie Smith Rd and Powdersville Rd will bring safety and organization. Those making left turns off Mossie Smith face a blind turn to their right, speeding drivers from both directions, and aggressive drivers wanting to make a turn behind them. During peak traffic congestion (ie 7-8:30 am and 4:45-6 pm), left turns off Mossie Smith Rd become very risky and drawn out. Speeding is also a chronic issue on this road, with it having a 35 mph speed limit. Powdersville Road is now a heavily traveled, “cut-through” route for drivers avoiding Highway 123. Mossie Smith is a highly residential road with many drivers having children attending area schools thanks to the many subdivisions on it. It is also considered a busy “cut-through” route to connect Powdersville Road and other heavily residential roads, like Brushy Creek. Bringing a traffic signal would allow a diminished sense of urgency for traffic flowing off Mossie Smith to Powdersville Rd, namely those making left turns. With all drivers getting a “fair chance” to make their turn and be on their way, it would also calm tensions that lead to aggressive driving, especially during peak hours.
