We are proud to announce that more than 700 people have now signed our petition in support of the charity shop and the vital role it plays in our community.
This level of support demonstrates that local people care deeply about protecting community spaces, supporting charitable work, and ensuring that decisions affecting our neighbourhood are made transparently and with proper public engagement.
However, despite the petition's continued growth, we have yet to receive a meaningful response from the council. More than 700 residents, supporters, customers, volunteers, and community members have added their names, yet their concerns remain unanswered.
That is disappointing.
Petitions exist so that people can participate in local decision-making and make their voices heard. When hundreds of people come together behind a common cause, they deserve more than silence. They deserve acknowledgement, engagement, and a willingness to listen.
The lack of response has not weakened our resolve. If anything, it has strengthened it.
This campaign is about more than one shop. It is about recognising the value of community-led services, respecting public opinion, and ensuring that local voices are not overlooked when important decisions are made.
To everyone who has signed, shared, donated their time, or spoken to friends and neighbours about this campaign: thank you. Your support has already made a difference, and together we are building a powerful case that cannot be ignored indefinitely.
We will continue to seek answers and press for meaningful engagement from the council. In the meantime, please keep sharing the petition and encouraging others to join us!
Seven hundred voices have spoken. We believe they deserve to be heard.
