Since launching this petition, one thing that continues to come up is why do I not just ask for silent fireworks? Well, the truth is, there is no such thing. All fireworks make some level of noise.
Whilst there are lower noise fireworks available on the market, they still make noise of around 70db and they are not the sort of fireworks you see traditionally. They look and feel very different to what most people identify as fireworks. That is why I have asked for alternatives such as drone displays or laser shows; though we are most definitely open to some of the more quieter, non-projectile fireworks displays as well as any other suggestions.

The Firework Campaign UK published the findings of the British Fireworks Association of so called 'silent' fireworks, which you can read here:

They even included a link to a video that is a great example of what noise actually does come from these so called 'silent' fireworks - just be sure to watch past the fountains to the projectile type of fireworks at around the 30 second mark...and yes, they get louder throughout the display.

A video with some of the most silent fireworks I have found, can be seen below. As you will see, they are quite different to traditional projectile fireworks displays, but are still very pretty. I would be happy to see these in use instead of what is currently being used.
Please note that at around 2:45, we see some 'lower noise', projectile fireworks introduced and it is clear how much noise they still make and how they could still cause trauma.

Please share this message so people understand why we want to see an end of traditional fireworks in our community. Whilst there are some low noise, non-projectile options that should be up for consideration, 'silent' fireworks do not actually exist and are not a solution at all.
