Make Brighton Better started this petition to Brighton Town Supervisor Bill Moehle

A Brighton resident recently posted on Facebook, “Robin Reynolds Wilt is metaphorically slapping Brighton Jews in the face with her words and actions. I will not be silent about it, and I will tell everyone who will listen.”

Brighton Town Council member Robin Wilt posted a picture on Facebook of herself with her arms around renowned Anti-Semite Linda Sarsour on May 18, 2021, while the terrorist organization Hamas continued to rain thousands of rockets on innocent civilians on both sides of the Gaza-Israel border.

Robin Wilt wrote “Those who know who she is, know what this post means. It’s Day 8 of this conflict.
#FreePalestine”

The above post by an elected Brighton official alarmed many in our community who believe that “Free Palestine” is the shortened version of “from the river to the sea - Palestine will be Free” calling for the elimination of the Jewish state of Israel.

On May 20, 2021, Robin Wilt introduced herself as a member of the Brighton Town Board and gave a short speech at a Free The People Roc rally. She mentioned that it was tough to stand up for Palestinians since she represents a town with lots of Jews. At the end of her speech there were chants of Free Palestine, Free Palestine!

See video at https://fb.watch/61Nv0DTmLs/. Wilt starts at 43:25. Note the edit/cut at 44:58 before she says “... but that doesn’t negate our responsibility.” The cut video included a sentence when Wilt says something like - I represent a town with lots of Jewish voters.

On June 13, 2021, Robin Wilt participated in an Anti-Jewish Hate Zoom forum. See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCwOzWfjc9M. Robin Wilt could not bring herself to recognize the suffering of Jews and Israelies and stated “I know it’s hard in a town that has a significant Jewish population to stand up for Palestinian human rights.”

On June 22, 2021, within minutes of winning the Democratic primary for Brighton Town Board, Robin Wilt engaged in a rousing chant of Free Palestine with attendees at her victory party.

On June 29, 2021, the below concerning and inflammatory comment was posted by Robin Wilt on her personal Facebook page. The post is filled with hate and anger towards the “ones”, the Jews.

Here’s the post:

"Haters are gonna hate, but do you know what’s disappointing? The people who know you and don’t defend you, who never pick up the phone to ask you what is going on, but have called to ask you for help when they needed it: The ones that know that you recently donated $1000 of your own money just to ensure that a town event that hasn’t been accessible to certain religious observants for over a decade became accessible. The ones who know you have stood alone and challenged that the town has a “holiday tree”. The ones with whom you have broken bread at their homes during religious observances. The ones who know that you have posted and written and marched and spoken out about religious hatred and bigotry at every opportunity. The ones who know that you extended grace for a community to have an internal conversation, and did not call out when that community recently chose to celebrate and enrich a public figure that has made anti-Muslim and anti-Black comments. The ones with whom you had hours of private dialogue and thought you’d achieved resolution, who then cynically and dishonestly choose not to disclose the conversations. The ones with whom you have stood in solidarity. The ones who have never stood in solidarity with you, but you never doubted their allyship. When it becomes painfully obvious that those whom you thought were friends were just bigots themselves, lying in wait to excoriate a Black woman, it’s hard to have faith in the ability of people to actually implement the justice and equity they say they believe in."

Brighton Town Supervisor Bill Moehle - Remove Robin Wilt as the Brighton Town Board Liaison to the Diversity Committee of the Town of Brighton now.
