Keep the Mazda Fountain in Victoria Gardens

The Issue

Brighton and Hove City Council is about to remove the 80-year-old Mazda Fountain in Victoria Gardens, Brighton, as part of its revamp of the A23 and vallley gardens. Council officers have described this fountain as "not historically important", yet it has been there for the majority of people's living memory. It's varied fountain formations are a delight in the summer. Drawings for the development do not make it clear if Queen Victoria's statue will also remain as part of the scheme. We the undersigned ask Brighton and Hove City Council to keep the Mazda Fountain where it is and ensure Queen Victoria continues to look across the road towards the Royal Pavillion as she has for decades.
