Hello,
First of all I want to thank you for taking the time to sign the petition. So far 138 people have signed and three weeks ago I wrote the Deerfield, Highland Park, and Lake County Forest Preserves departments of planning with a link to the signed petition. I first contacted them last summer and the following is a summary of their responses:
Mr. Dickinson, Assistant Director of Public Works and Engineering, Village of Deerfield "agree[d] this would be a nice benefit to the Village (and City of HP as well)” and planned to "digest this request and discuss internally”
Mr. Bannon, Director of Public Works, City of Highland Park noted a bridge "has been talked about in the past, though only at a conceptual level” and planned to "review the information you provided and respond when we have an update”
Mr. Kleinjan, Director of Planning, Lake County Forest Preserves replied that there would be "certain limitations and considerations regarding development” near the Berkeley Preserve due to a "regional sanitary line parallel to the River”
I haven't heard anything from them since their replies last year, so I wanted to see if you may know someone in the local government to present this issue to. I also welcome you to contact local planning departments directly - I feel like a direct message will make more of an impression than a link to an online petition. Here are the planning department contacts:
Tyler Dickinson, P.E. / Deerfield Public Works and Engineering
publicworks@deerfield.il.us
Ron Bannon / Highland Park Public Works
rbannon@cityhpil.com
Kevin Kleinjan / Lake County Forest Preserves Department of Planning
kkleinjan@LCFPD.org
Thanks again for your support.
Ian
