With the consistent threat of terrorist events like the recent attack on Istanbul's airport, increasing airport security to cover a greater area is a big point of interest in our world today. As a result, security checks have grown timely and invasive, which can negatively impact tourism and airline business alike. The experience of traveling can help bring the people of the world together, enabling us to appreciate things new and different, form friendships across oceans, and create memories worth sharing with our children. But, how can we encourage safe traveling and promote related business, without increasing security lines and uncomfortable situations? Dogs. Imagine arriving at the airport, whether to catch a flight or pick up a loved one, only to be greeted by canine units patrolling the curbside and shuttle areas. Not necessarily a fierce looking dog either, but one whose face you've seen on ASPCA commercials asking your donations to save a life. Imagine how many dogs we could keep healthy and safe, simply by training them to keep us safe in airports? An abundance of canine units has proven successful in deterring terrorist attacks in Israeli airports. With my own rescued hunting pup as proof, shelter dogs can be both highly trained and people friendly. So let's save their lives, in return for them protecting ours.
