Your call of support has been heard in just one day. Taylor & Francis reached out with an update. Elsevier has also unlocked our banner article, and hopefully thousands more to follow.
From @tandfonline: Hi, thanks for tagging us in this post. We're currently checking to ensure all research published in Taylor & Francis and Routledge journals is free to access if they're not already open access. 2/2 In addition to this, we’ve also created a reading list for recently published research which we are updating regularly. (go heart their tweet!)
Bravo for their commitment to our scientists! On January 31 2020 many of the named publishers also signed the Wellcome Trust Statement as a commitment to "call on researchers, journals and funders to ensure that research findings and data relevant to this outbreak are shared rapidly and openly to inform the public health response and help save lives."
Yet key Coronavirus research remained locked. The commitment focused on research that was "relevant to the outbreak" (2019-nCoV), which allowed publishers to exclude a large number of articles. Our petition holds publishers to their promise and pushes them to expand open access to Coronavirus research.
Every signature is a step toward our humble goal: every Coronavirus article for every scientist.
