Stop deforestation of the Amazon Rainforest

The Issue

The Amazonian Rainforest is rapidly diminishing due to deforestation, and we as the higher species should be obligated to do all in our power to preserve this natural habitat. What used to cover 14% of our world's surface now only runs along 6%, depriving so many animals of their beautiful, widely diverse, species-rich home. Through deforestation, It is not just the tropical rainforest that is subsiding, but the 10 million species of animals, plants, and insects that reside and thrive on this biome as well. At the rate of losing 137 living species a day, or 50,000 annually, all these animals soon will become extinct- just like the dinosaurs. But unlike their extinction, this loss will be placed solely on us. These species should not be going extinct due to humans. It is just not right. Humans entail the power, knowledge and resources to prevent such things from happening, but it is just a matter of making it a priority. This world was made and belongs to- not just some, but all of us. And if I have yet to persuade you to sign this petition, then you should know that the amazon produces over 20% of earth's oxygen. The destruction of these forests is largely contributing to Global Warming, and is a huge factor in the atmospheres exponentially increasing carbon dioxide levels. Losing this rainforest may not have the most obvious impedance on our lives, but the new generation and generations to come are bound to undergo extreme privative changes in their lives, as a result of our negligence. It only takes a second to make a difference with this, so please sign this petition to preserve these animals and conserve their beautiful habitat.
