Many of you have commented on some of the photos and video I took in front of the Farmer John Slaughterhouse. Understandably, some of the comments have stated that they should be reported because it’s unlawful. This brings us back to what we are campaigning for. The pigs aren’t protected under the Animal Welfare Act. As long as these companies can legally operate without caring for the welfare of the pigs, the pigs will continue to be subjected to abuse and torment. They are confined to a life in substandard and horrifying conditions. Pigs have intelligence that far exceeds most animals. They are sensitive and social. It’s not defensible that they are not granted protection. It’s as if the law views them as the condemned. Factory Farming wants the public to view them as nothing more than food. They are not giving their lives. Their lives are being taken from them. They deserve to at least have food, water, and space to move around. Pigs should live free from any physical or psychological abuse.
We have fewer than 18,000 signatures. The next goal is 25,000. I believe this campaign can grow to that number. At that point, I will reach out to the Congressman’s staff again. Thank you for your support.
