Dear friends,

I want to thank all 30,000 of you for your support for the petition to re-open all BreastScreen NSW clinics.

The Government should never have closed BreastScreen NSW clinics during the lockdown.

Now, the Government has finally started the slow reopening of clinics across the state, however the damage has already been done - even a minor delay in a routine breast screening could make a major difference in a person’s life.

Extra resources and funding are needed to deal with the backlog of women with cancelled appointments, those due for their routine screenings, and other new appointments.

As a breast cancer survivor myself, I know how crucial early detection is in overcoming this deadly disease.

I have written to the Minister for Health when the decision was made to close all clinics in August. I urged the Minister to reopen the clinics immediately.

I want to sincerely thank Christina who organised the petition, and for her outstanding activism. She has been an extraordinary and hard-working advocate for the cause.

I am very proud to stand with you all in this fight.

Both myself, and my Shadow Parliamentary colleague Ryan Park MP, will continue to pursue this until all BreastScreen NSW clinics are open once again.
