I am petitioning to stop the Pheasant Hunt Fundraiser, on February 11, 2017, for the Boys & Girls Club of Janesville, Wisconsin, because it is teaching children that it is okay to kill innocent animals for money. Not only is it encouraging the use of guns, but it also is not teaching children to respect our animal brethren. This is a canned hunt, so it is not traditional hunting in the sense that the birds are in a controlled area. This puts the animals at a disadvantage because they cannot escape, thus making it cruel and inhumane. With so many communities being affected by several random shootings I would think that an organization as well known as the Boys & Girls Club would encourage fundraising that doesn't involve using weapons. Our community would benefit if fundraising events encouraged peaceful interaction between citizens and nature and not benefit from senseless acts of violence.
