Today is the last day to speak up for Washington bears. The WDFW will decide whether or not to move forward with a permanent spring bear hunting season tomorrow, March 19, 2022.
Washington bears deserve peace and the chance to live their lives free from the crosshairs of trophy/bear hunters. Spring is a time of birth and renewal. A time when key life-sustaining processes are at work. The exchange between plants and animals helps keep our forest ecosystems balanced and healthy. In spring, wild plants and vegetation slowly emerge, forcing hungry bears exiting hibernation to forage in clearings with no cover, making them easy targets for hunters. Hunters can't distinguish between male and female bears. Nursing mother bears will often stow their cubs in a safe place out of sight when they forage during the spring. If a mother bear is killed, her cubs will most likely die without her. All life should be respected and honored, especially in spring when nature is delicate and new.
Please act now before it's too late!
