Letter sent to WVA on 5 Feb 2017:
"Dear Jan Vaarten, DVA, WVA Executive Secretary and Dr. Zeev Noga, Veterinary Policy Officer, World Veterinary Association
Thank you for your attention to this email communication. As you may be aware, our group, "Stop the Dog & Cat Meat Trade Worldwide" (http://www.stopthedogandcatmeattradeworldwide.com/about-us.html) have created and circulated the following petition through Change.org:
https://www.change.org/p/boycott-the-world-veterinary-congress-in-south-korea-toxic-torture-hell-for-dogs-cats
As documented in the official signatures report from change.org, attached, this petition received over 1,500 signatures, whereby each signer pledged the following message:
"My Sincere, Public Request to the Veterinary Community
'By signing this petition, I urge members of the World Veterinary Association (WVA), veterinary professionals and veterinary students worldwide to boycott the conference or speak out against the cruel and barbaric South Korean dog and cat meat trade at the conference itself. For those compassionate scientific professionals boycotting the conference, I ask that they please communicate to the WVA and WVC Incheon, Korea 2017 Organizing Committee the reasons for their boycott and opposition to this toxic trade.'
My group created this petition as an initial effort to highlight the importance of boycotting South Korea due to the horrific dog and cat meat trade as part of a wider cause working to ban the trade. With this email, we deliver the petition formally to you and the WVA. Our group also have a second, similar petition in circulation, which is reaching 6,000 supporters - This week, we will be prioritizing this second petition as a top priority in an attempt to grow the petition to at least 20,000 signers by the end of March. You can view it here:

We would like very much to engage with you in discussion around this issue to hear your thoughts and how the WVA would like to respond to the situation around the dog and cat meat trade. Ideally, we would love to see the WVA organize a seminar during the Congress to spread awareness to attendees about the vile dog and cat meat trade and propose some form of involvement to bring this abominable trade to an end.
Boiling animals alive, burning alive, beating, skinning alive, sometimes through repeat torture sessions, just to make the meat tender or tastier, is an unacceptable practice in today's world, and we need your help to stop it.
I look forward to hearing from you,
Kind regards and many thanks,
Jenny Wilkins, Stop the Dog & Cat Meat Trade Worldwide"
