What is smaller than a glimmer of hope? A scale? A spec?

As taken from ABC news: "President Donald Trump and his advisers are mulling whether to no longer livestream the execution of Fort Hood shooter Nidal Hasan, sources familiar with the matter told ABC News. The discussions come amid a hesitancy over whether broadcasting the execution could super charge anti-American propaganda, particularly among Islamic-extremist groups, or simply turn the execution into a spectacle that reflects poorly on the U.S, the sources said. 

The plan for a public execution reminded me of Frontline's special on the History of ISIS. In 2003, Colin Powell made a speech to the UN in which he mentioned Abu Musab al-Zarqawi over 21 times. Yet at the time, al-Zarqawi was considered a poor recruit for Al Qaeda and not very important.

Within months of the UN speech, al-Zarqawi rapidly gained followers, fomenting sectarian warfare and laid he groundwork for the organization that would become ISIS.
