Acapulco's business has been booming, and the parent company is now actively fighting to stay.  The property owners have also indicated they are willing to sign a new lease with Acapulco if the proposed car wash project does not move forward.

At this point, one final piece remains: prospective car wash tenant Armen Kazangian needs to withdraw from the pending lease.  He needs to see that our momentum is not slowing down, that a car wash would fit in much better in the industrial part of San Fernando Road near the storage facilities, and in the words of multiple commenters here on this petition, he needs to see that “WE WILL NOT BE STOPPED."

Alongside our efforts to “Save Acapulco,” it is important that any current or future developers / businesses understand that there may be significant reputational and business consequences for replacing such a beloved Glendale landmark.

Please consider mailing respectful letters to ARMEN KAZANGIAN at both of the addresses below.  He needs to hear directly from community members about how much Acapulco means to Glendale.

Subject: Inquiring about Glendale Car Wash Application (722 N Pacific Ave)

Dear Mr. Armen Kazangian,

We understand that an application has been submitted to develop a car wash at 722 N Pacific Ave in Glendale, at the current site of the Acapulco Mexican restaurant.

As you may already be aware, this project has been facing massive community and leadership opposition, including three official appeals, petitions, and organized boycotts.

We were also curious as to whether you have seen the recent community petition, “Save Acapulco Restaurant in Glendale From Demolition,” which has received nearly 3,000 signatures:
Change.org/SaveAcapulcoGlendale

In addition, a follow-up petition was recently launched titled “Boycott the Car Wash Replacing Historic Acapulco Restaurant,” aimed at organizing peaceful community boycotts and public demonstrations should the project move forward:

We truly do still wish you success with this project at a different, more suitable location — one that can better benefit both your business interests and the surrounding community.

Sincerely,
