THEY WOULD CHOOSE KINDNESS IF THEY COULD CHOOSE AT ALL

Imagine you are one foot tall.

A giant fastens a leash around your neck.

They speak a language you cannot understand.

You stop to smell the world.

The leash tightens.

You hesitate because something frightens you.

The giant pulls.

Not your chest.

Not your shoulders.

Your neck.

The most vulnerable part of your body.

You do not know what they want.

So they use your neck to change your mind.

Again.

And again.

Every day.

You cannot ask why.

You cannot say, “Please don’t pull.”

You cannot say, “That hurts.”

You simply follow the person you love most in the world.

Because you trust them.

Now ask yourself:

If someone stronger than you pulled you by your neck simply because you could not understand what they wanted, would you call that kindness?

Dogs spend their lives trying to understand us.

It is time we spend one minute trying to understand them.

Dogs are not property. They are living, feeling beings who experience fear, pain, confusion, curiosity, and trust.

They cannot tell us when they are hurting.

They simply endure what we choose for them.

Pulling or yanking a dog by the neck can place pressure on delicate structures, including the throat, airway, spine, muscles, and nerves. A well-fitted harness spreads that force across the chest and shoulders instead of concentrating it on the neck.

If a safer and kinder choice exists, why would we choose anything else?

THE PETITION

By signing this petition, I affirm one simple principle:

Every dog deserves to walk without unnecessary pressure and pain on their neck.

I call on dog guardians, veterinarians, trainers, animal welfare organizations, pet retailers, educators, and governments around the world to:

• Promote well-fitted harnesses as the preferred equipment for everyday walks.

• Educate the public about the risks of pulling or yanking dogs by the neck.

• Support stronger animal welfare standards that protect dogs from preventable pain, fear, and injury.

Before your next walk, imagine life from the other end of the leash.

Imagine being unable to speak.

Imagine being unable to ask for gentleness.

Imagine trusting someone completely with your safety.

Then choose the walk your dog would ask for if they had a voice.

Choose kindness. Choose a harness.
