We, the undersigned members of the international community, music listeners, and concerned citizens, demand the official recognition, public condemnation, long-term boycott, and complete disbandment of the South Korean music group BTS.

 

As leaders of the global music industry and role models for millions of young people worldwide, the members of this group bear direct responsibility for the values and images they project. However, throughout the group's career, multiple incidents have been documented that demonstrate a disregard for the principles of equality, humanism, and respect for human rights.

 

We draw attention to the following systemic issues within the group's activities:

 

Manifestations of Sexism and Misogyny: In several of the group's early musical works and public statements, lyrics and objectifying imagery have been observed that demean the dignity of women and reinforce harmful gender stereotypes.

 

Racial Insensitivity and Cultural Appropriation: In the creative output and behavior of the members, there have been documented instances showing a lack of respect for the culture, history, and feelings of racial and ethnic minorities (including the inappropriate use of language, slurs, and imagery).

 

Use of Symbolism Linked to Totalitarian Ideologies: In visual materials, photo shoots, and clothing items worn by the group members, imagery and symbolism associated with far-right movements, fascism, and tragic chapters of world history have been utilized. This is entirely unacceptable and deeply offensive to the memory of millions of victims.

 

Despite occasional and isolated apologies, these incidents demonstrate a lack of deep understanding regarding global responsibility. Such actions and unacceptable deeds contribute to the normalization of discrimination among a multi-million fan audience.

 

Our Demands:

 

To International Brands and Media Platforms: Immediately terminate all advertising contracts, broadcasts, and collaborations with BTS.

 

To Music Awards and Committees: Exclude BTS from nominees and participants in major international cultural events.

 

To HYBE / Big Hit Music: Officially disband the group BTS and provide a detailed and transparent report on the measures being taken to eradicate all forms of discrimination, sexism, and xenophobia in the activities of their artists.

 

Culture must not serve as a cover for promoting destructive and discriminatory ideas. We call for a complete boycott and the termination of the group until these demands are met.
