With the Boy Scouts now in bankruptcy it is time for a change in board leadership at both the national and Council level. To protect our children and the future of Scouting, members and creditors should demand the immediate removal of anyone who had knowledge of the sexual abuse or harassment and failed to speak out.

While we are grateful she was not physically abused, we were disappointed that the largely male Boy Scout leadership seemingly supported an adult leader, an Order of the Arrow adviser, who falsely posted on Facebook that my teenage daughter was pregnant. This is the same old story - BSA male leaders circling the wagons to protect their own at the expense of our children's safety. We need real leaders on our boards - largely women and minorities - who are committed to the ideals of Scout Law and Oath, intolerant of any abuse or discrimination, and, most importantly, we need leaders committed to protecting our children.
