Senator Liz Krueger calls on Boy Scout President, former Ernst & Young CEO Jim Turley, to recognize Sydney’s work and award her the Eagle Rank. Senator Krueger says about Sydney, “(S)he has met all the requirements for the Eagle Scout rank yet Sydney is being required to wait another year to receive advancement for conditions she long ago met...Sydney and other young women prepared for BSA’s highest honor and deserve evaluation on the merits their work, just as any Eagle candidate should.” It was President Turley who personally told Sydney about the discriminatory Boy Scout policy: that for no reason other than she is a girl, Sydney and other young women will have to wait another year to earn the highest award in Scouting, the Eagle Rank.
As his New Year’s resolution, please ask President Turley to speak out against gender discrimination in the Boy Scouts and to immediately allow eligible young women to be recognized as Eagle Scouts.
Thank you Senator Krueger.
