45,000 Girls Join Cub Scouts in September! Why does the Boy Scout Leadership Continue its Discriminatory Ban on Girls aged 11-18, including Sydney Ireland?
- 643 girls joined Cubs in New York City
- 6000 girls joined Cubs in the Northeast Region
- Nationally, an amazing 45,000 girls joined the life-changing Cub Scout program
So why continue to ban Sydney Ireland and the other, older girls?
BSA National Board -
Please lift the discriminatory ban and allow girls ages 10-18 to join Troops...today. There is no legitimate reason to continue gender discrimination in scouting. We keep hearing that the gender ban is clear retaliation? Sydney and these other girls just want to join and help build a great Scouting program. Please don't retaliate. Let them in.
As Martin Luther King, Jr. said, "Justice too long delayed is justice denied."
Please email the Boy Scout National Chair Jim Turley and respectfully ask him to speak out against the gender discrimination imposed on older girls in the Boy Scouts. Sydney was inspired by a national Boy Scout leader she considers a mentor. He encouraged her to earn Rank Advancement, Merit Badges and to go for the Eagle Rank. Her Eagle Project is ready to go for November 11th - Veterans Day. He now tells her she will now be stripped of all Rank and Merit Badges? Why? Mr. Turley and the other national leaders, please let Sydney and these other young, female leaders join Troops now and include the work they have completed towards Rank and Merit Badges, just like any other Boy Scout.
