Can you send a message to the Scout Leaders today? The BSA is holding its annual Board of Directors meeting today and we are asking that they make a change for Sydney and other young women, to allow them to pursue the Eagle Rank. Below is an email/letter by Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney. Thank you, Congresswoman Maloney, and to everyone vocally supporting the full and immediate inclusion of young women in Troops. Date: May 22, 2018 at 5:21:18 PM EDT USE THE BELOW EMAIL ADDRESSES To: Randall.Stephenson@scouting.or; pr@scouting.org; myscouting@scouting.org; rs2982@att.com; michael.surbaugh@scouting.org Subject: Sydney Ireland Dear President Stephenson and Chief Scout Surbaugh, Congresswoman Maloney is delighted that you have taken the really important step of agreeing to include girls, but unfortunately Sydney Ireland, a scout who resides in the Congresswoman’s 12th Congressional district, who wrote articles and worked hard to gain the inclusion of girls in the Scouts, may not benefit from the change. Sydney will age out before the rule change goes into effect, preventing her from realizing her dream of becoming an Eagle Scout. The Congresswoman understands that the Boy Scouts National Board will be meeting tomorrow and could take action to grant Sydney and other girls across the country full and immediate inclusion in the Troops so their work to attain the rank of Eagle Scout can be recognized. I am attaching the Congresswoman’s original letter as well as a follow up letter regarding tomorrow’s Board meeting. Very truly yours,
