Dear friend,

One year ago, despite the rise of Covid-19 related deaths, The Government saw fit to allow the Cheltenham Festival to go ahead just as they had with the Rugby at Twickenham and the Liverpool Madrid football match.

At the time, our borders remained unrestricted, allowing travel between Italy, the European epicentre of the virus, Spain and the UK.

Perhaps, had the Prime Minister attended the five COBRA meetings he had skipped at the start of the pandemic, we would have taken the virus immediately more seriously. Perhaps we would have been better prepared or more willing to endure the hardships that a safeguard response entailed.

There are clearly lessons to be learned but the Government still refuses to hold an independent, judge-led statutory public inquiry.

They still refuse to even meet with the bereaved families from Covid-19 Bereaved Families for Justice and listen to their pain and heartache or pledge to answer their questions.

Bereaved families need your help.

We are fast approaching the anniversary of our loved ones passing. It’s a heart-wrenching and painful time for us, made worse by a seemingly uncaring Government who, despite calls from us, charities and bereavement experts, fail support bereavement services that are so badly needed by over 143,000 shattered families.

One of the things that keep us going is you.

You’ve already helped us by showing that people do care for those of us who have lost a loved one.

Even so, I’m sorry that I’m asking you to help once more.

We want to hit £50,000 with our fundraising by the end of the week.

Every penny of this goes towards helping us secure an independent, judge-led statutory public inquiry.

That means raising just over £3,000 in 4 days.

To help us do that you can do any of the below – simply click on any option and it will take you to the right place to help make that happen

1) Giving a one off donation

2) Sending a Whatsapp message to 5 friends asking them to help

3) Asking your friends and family to help on Facebook

4) Asking people on twitter to help – make sure to tag us in on @CovidJusticeUK

Thank you for everything you’ve already done for us,

Matt Fowler,

Co-Founder of Covid-19 Bereaved Families for Justice
