Here is a recent update from Bpas:

Last night, thanks to your help, MPs debated our plans to stop abortion clinic harassment by introducing buffer zones. The amendment we pushed forward had 43 MPs from 7 different parties signed up to it – making it the third most popular amendment out of the more than 100 proposed.

This success is down to the work supporters, like you, have done over the past few days.

Unfortunately, despite having a 300-page bill and more than 100 amendments to debate, the Government allowed less than five hours for debate. This meant that Parliament ran out of time, and MPs ultimately didn’t get the opportunity to vote on our amendment.

This is not a defeat. We know that the introduction of buffer zones is a popular policy right across the parties – and this amendment has helped us to further build this support.

We’re now in a prime position to bring this amendment back to Parliament as soon as possible – confident in the knowledge that when MPs get the chance to change the law, they will vote in favour.
