Dear Supporter,
I hope you had a very good Christmas despite the lockdown and the news of the 'threadbare' Brexit deal.
Read our top 10 takeaways from the Brexit deal
The deal underlines how far away the UK now is from Europe; not only will free movement come to an end, but also the opportunity UK students have to study in Europe through the Erasmus programme.
Have we reached rock bottom or is there worse to come?
Despite verbal assurances to the contrary by members of this Government, we continue to fear that EU citizens may lose the vote in local, regional and Scottish elections.
EU citizens and Britons abroad were denied a vote in 2014 and again in 2019. What will happen to their vote in local elections next year?
I hope you will find the interview I gave to Deutsche Welle in Berlin on Christmas Eve of interest.
In it, I say that I believe the UK has now reached rock bottom in terms of how far away from Europe it can go.
Now is the time for us to start on the long and winding road back to EU membership with full voting rights not just for the UK in the Council of Ministers but rights for EU citizens in the UK and Britons in Europe, too.
Today we appeal for your help if we are to continue to campaign for the democratic rights of EU citizens in the UK and Britons in Europe.
Chip in to our appeal, so that we can continue to campaign.
