Following our representations, the European Parliament has called on EU-27 Member States to ensure voting rights in local elections are provided for all citizens covered by the Withdrawal Agreement.

The work of our campaign teams is making a difference and our voices are being heard in Brussels:

European Parliament calls on EU-27 and UK to respect citizens’ rights after Brexit, The Brussels Times, Thursday16 January 2020

We know from the experience of last summer that the Government has no qualms about denying Eu citizens their votes.

If# #DeniedMyVote can happen in European elections, when the UK was a member of the EU, it can certainly be repeated after Brexit.

That's why it is so important we step up our campaign for an inquiry.

We also need to campaign positively to make sure the Government understands how much EU citizens value their right to vote!

It is not just in local elections that EU citizens can vote and stand for election - it also applies to the London elections taking place this year as well as to the Welsh and Northern Irish Assemblies.

(Scotland has its own electoral system and the power to decide the franchise now lies with the Scottish Parliament.

The London elections provide a unique opportunity to all Londoners to make their voices heard.

Meanwhile it's vitally important that we keep the pressure on this government to protect the current voting rights of EU citizens and to extend them to include General elections.

EU member states should do the same for British citizens resident there.

Please chip in what you can on the link below to make sure that no one is denied their vote.
