Today we have an important request to make.

We would like to ask you to put our #DeniedMyVote campaign on a sustainable basis for 2020 by joining New Europeans as a member.

You will be joining an award-winning, civil rights organisation dedicated to defending our democratic rights as citizens in the context of Brexit.

It is exactly because our focus has always been on citizens' rights that we need to step up our fight as Brexit approaches.

There is still so much to fight for, including a public inquiry into why so many were denied the vote in May 2019.

We are also campaigning to make sure that EU citizens in the UK do no lose the democratic rights they currently enjoy in the UK.

These rights include the right to stand and vote in local elections (including mayors and police commissioners), for the London assembly and Mayor, for the Welsh and Northern Irish Assemblies and for the Scottish parliament.

With the London elections and many local elections coming up next year, it is vital we ensure  the right to vote is not denied and that there is a high level of voter registration amongst EU citizens.

We need to maintain the energy and organisation we are putting into the #DeniedMyVote campaign so that it can be channelled to mobilise the vote in the forthcoming London and local elections.

We will be writing to you again to update you about these campaigns and to ask for your support with specific calls to action.

At the same time we would like to emphasise the critical important of  joining New Europeans as a member - this is what helps us plan ahead and gives so much impact and legitimacy to our campaigns.

Joining as a member does not mean that you have to become active in our campaigns although we would be delighted to hear form you if you would like to do so (please email bureau@neweuropeans.net).

It does mean that you are willing to play your part in supporting the work all of us at New Europeans who are working hard now over Christmas and New year and throughout the year to defend our rights as citizens. 

In the tough weeks and months that lie ahead we are counting on your support so we can continue to fight on and make a difference.
