Back in 2020 you were one of the amazing people who supported my campaign to extend free school meals over the holidays. More than 400,000 people signed that petition. And it worked — Boris Johnson eventually responded to us, and other campaigners, thanks to people like you!

But now we need to fight again. On Monday, the Government released its food strategy white paper and chose not to extend free school meals to all children in need. Right now, 800,000 children are living in poverty but not eligible for free school meals — meaning they are missing out on a guaranteed hot, healthy meal, as the cost of living soars.

I’ve been inspired by other young people like Asha and Saffron who are telling their stories to show how the rising cost of living is hitting them, and want to stand up for the huge number of families who are struggling to afford the basics. So, I launched a new petition saying to Boris Johnson: don’t ignore 800,000 children in need of free school meals. Please click here to add your name today.
