Guy Pines, Israel's #1 entertainment journalist, has commented on a tweet sharing our petition:
"pathetic petition to boycott #bonjovi in #Israel will not work: too many Israelis vote for LOVE."
As a journalist, Pines' shows a disturbing display of lack of understanding of both the target of the boycott and the motivations behind it, despite the fact that they are both clearly written within the petition itself.
What's more disturbing is Pines' choice of words, that equate Israel's apartheid military regime with love, and the world-wide movement to bring it to accountability with hate. These demonizing tactics- particularly the simplistic dichotomy of "love" and "hate"- are Israel's latest official line of propaganda, as used by both state officials and many Israeli media outlets.
In his tweet Pines exemplifies exactly how Israel's media and cultural figures willingly adopt the state's narrative and whitewash it with disinformation and assertions, which at best are naive, and at worse- a deliberate cynical, simplistic and baseless outright lie.
In its first week, our petition to Bon Jovi to cancel his show in Israel was signed by over 1500 people. Please join us and sign and share the petition.
