The DC-MD-VA metro area is home to a diverse population that welcomes people of all races, ages, genders, sexual orientations to enjoy the beauty of our nation's capital. Unfortunately, BlogBash, an offspring of the CPAC convention, does not. In fact, they go out of their way to ensure that specific groups are alienated and judged. We do not think that Bobby McKey's should host this informal hate group when so many diverse people in the DC area plan and organize diverse events at this venue. We will not stand idly by while Bobby McKey's hosts an event led by those who would strip our rights and demean our lifestyles, especially in the LGBT & Muslim communities - we will take our business elsewhere.
These are just a few of the leaders of Blog Bash 2013. They are all up for "Awards" at Blog Bash 2013:
Robert Stacy McCain, a former key Washington Times editor who has suggested that “perfectly rational people” react with “altogether natural revulsion” to interracial marriage. - source: Southern Poverty Law Center
Todd Kincannon, former South Carolina Republican Party Executive Director, infamous for tweeting racist comments disparaging Trayvon Martin and African Americans during the 2013 SuperBowl. ("This Super Bowl sucks more dick than adult Trayvon Martin would have for drug money." and "It hasn't been this dark in the Superdome since all those poors occupied it after Hurricane Katrina.") Todd is also well known for hate speech against women and called Nancy Pelosi, "The Crabby Cunt from the California Coast” - sources: Huffington Post and Washington Post
Dana Loesch, who has promoted the idea that African Americans and progressives want a "race war" on her radio show and believes that immigrants have no place in politics. “I don’t want to hear a foreigner talking about media in this country, or politics in this country.” she said, “You don’t understand it.” Source: DailyKos and Raw Story
In addition to awarding bigotry, the National Blogger's Club has fortified their support for such activities. Special guests include well-known Islamaphobe Aaron Walker, the man behind the "Everybody Draw Mohammad Blog" under the veil of free speech, and Bill Murphy, Mitt Romney's failed social media director, who was caught mid-campaign promoting fear of a coming "race war". Rick Santorum, best known for his anti-gay comments, has also been invited to speak at Blog Bash 2013. He was recently in the news again for his stance on banning gays from being Boy Scouts.
Please sign & share this petition, let Bobby Mckey's know that you don't support or tolerate hate groups - and will refuse to patronize businesses that support their events.
