Help save 3 beautiful heritage buildings in Downtown Guelph
The Issue
Three beautiful buildings owned by St Andrew's Church in Downtown Guelph are being considered for demolition by the church in order to erect affordable apartment buildings downtown. These buildings are already in use as affordable housing.
All 3 of these buildings are on the city's Municipal Register for Cultural Heritage and were built in 1855, 1860 and 1914. They are located on Yarmouth St which is already under construction for an 18 story high rise.
Guelph has always prided itself in heritage preservation and conservation. It would be a shame to destroy 3 historical buildings, to build another ugly apartment building on this quaint street. Other building owners on the street have endeavored to preserve Guelph's history such as the Raymond building.
