Minister, let's achieve a Great British Compromise - the Government and the NERC want a serious name for the new multi-million pound polar research vessel and that's understandable. But the spirit and humour of our nation exhibited in this moment of time is worth preserving and the 'McBoatface Affair' deserves to have a more satisfying and democratic outcome than at present. Solution - name the polar vessel RRS Henry Worsley, RRS David Attenborough or whatever... but then name its main lifeboat Boaty McBoatface.
