Let's Grow Blockchain Banking As a Path Out of Poverty For The Unbankables

More than 2 billion people.
That's the number of people in the world today who do not have a bank account. Access to health care, food and proper sanitation - these are all important in reducing poverty levels around the world.
But, financial services and access to these services is a vital, and sometimes overlooked, ingredient in reducing poverty around the world. In fact, as noted in an article from 2015, without improved access to banking services, global poverty will likely stay the same or worsen.
Over the past decade, we have seen people rise out of poverty from access to micro-lending services.
Now we have a developing technology, primarily in the form of the blockchain, that has the power to a create a new digital banking infrastructure that is cheaper and faster to build and spread.
But, visionary advocacy is needed if the potential behind blockchain technology is actually going to bring greater banking access to the underserved.
This is the goal of the petition: to raise funds to conduct research and develop a strategic vision and roadmap for using blockchain technology to improve banking access.
We will work toward this goal by:
- working with blockchain fintech startups to improve user experience to make this new technology intuitive and accessible;
- promoting financial education, micro-lending and financial aid through blockchain and cryptocurrency technology;
- raising support from large financial institutions that embrace digital transformation and understand the power behind the blockchain;
- launching a pilot study in a developing country to test the development and impact of a localized digital economy.
Sign my petition and help bring banking access to those who need it the most.
