e are dedicating this years Blood Drive to Margaret Vigrass, the mother and huge supporter of Blood is Blood Founder Jordan Moll.
Margaret was a huge supporter of the Blood is Blood Movement, her son Jordan Moll started in 2014.
Margaret believed whole heartily that the current blood donation policies that Gay & Bi-sexual men are subjected to were outdated and cruel and knew that Jordan just wanted to help those in need.
Margaret passed away after a massive heart attack and a 2 week stay in the ICU from a Cerebral Hemorrhage the Vigrass family knew she at that point was a perfect candidate for organ and tissue donation and acted quickly. Margaret was able to help countless burn victims and give the Gift of Sight to 2 people!

On July 24th, 201 we will be holding our 4th annual Blood is Blood Blood Drive in Buffalo, NY
Blood is Blood is dedicated to encouraging the FDA to change their arbitrary policy, with that being said a blood drive will raise awareness to this issue and also show the FDA that the LGBTQ and Allies are very giving so we ask those who support Blood is Blood & the LGBTQ Community come out and donate blood
in place of your friends/family who are unable to donate blood under the arbitrary policy that requires a gay or bi-sexual man to abstain from sex with another man for at least 12 months to be eligible to donate blood.
At our 2nd Annual Blood Drive in 2017, Founder of Blood is Blood Jordan Moll Announced his vow to abstain from sex for 12 months so he would be eligible to donate blood this coming blood drive in 2018 - Jordan has stayed strong with his vow - and will be eligible to donate this coming blood drive.
Jordan says "The main reason I am doing this is that I want people to know that I am serious about it. I want to help I'm not doing it for the attention If I can do this those people who remain silent about it and do not really speak up will hopefully gain the courage to do so. - Gay men who have been in monogamous relations for years are still viewed to be in a bad donor pool I think its unfair and arbitrary. "
Jordan has stage 3 fatty liver-disease a condition that almost guarantees he will eventually need a liver-transplant and the blood transfusions that come along with it wants to donate blood to earn his gift of life he may eventually need.

We want to thank the community that has supported Blood is Blood since October of 2015, since we held our first Community rally on December 14th,2015 we have received a ton of support from the community around Western New York and also around the Country, our community event encouraged the FDA to change their policy and as of the 21st of December, 2015 the FDA replaced their indefinite deferral with 12 month deferral period from the last Sexual Contact with a man.
The 12 month Deferral period is arbitrary and discriminatory.
This policy change was only a step in the right direction a step towards a policy in which the LGBT community is treated equally when evaluating possible threats to the donor pool.
In response to the policy change, we held our first annual gay alliance blood drive on July 27th, 2016 to raise awareness, with over 50 blood donors we helped save over 150 lives.
with our 2nd Annual Blood Drive, we had about 37 Donors and helped save over 111 lives.
Our goal this year is 70 Donors

The American Red Cross has updated their systems to reflect the current blood donation policy.
So gay and bisexual men have been abstinent for 12 months can donate at this blood drive.
