I JUST CAN’T STRESS THIS ENOUGH!
The operator of a Solar Farm begins each day, NEVER KNOWING what amount of fuel (Sunshine) they will have available that day. At maximum it may be a viable six hours (10am to 4pm), with another three less viable hours (8.30am to 10am – 4pm to 5.30pm) a total of nine hours. But if it is foggy, overcast, cloudy or raining, it may be reduced substantially or even zero, with the electricity generation reduced accordingly. This leaves for sure fifteen hours of everyday with zero electricity produced.
FOR THIS REASON, SOLAR FARMS SHOULD NEVER BE CONSIDERED TO BE A PRACTICAL OR ECONOMIC PROPOSITION FOR POWERING A MODERN SOCIETY WITH BASE LOAD ELECTRICITY 24/7.
CURRENT SOLAR INSTALLATIONS ARE A BIG PART OF THE REASON FOR OUR HUGE INCREASES IN ELECTRICITY PRICES.
Adding batteries to the mix only makes the situation worse and only increases the cost to the consumer. Batteries do not make electricity only store it, if there is an excess, which is highly unlikely. Batteries release less electricity than they take in, and once discharged are useless until they can be recharged.
The operator of a Wind Farm begins each day, NEVER KNOWING what amount of fuel (Wind) they will have available that day. Because they can only produce electricity, when the wind speed is between 12kms/hr and 90kms/hr, Wind Turbines are reported to produce electricity on average for only 30% of their rated capacity or on average for eight hours per day. As we know the weather, there can be hours, days and even weeks of Wind Droughts. (During cold, still Winter nights or in the midst of an actual Drought). In the opposite direction gales can blow for days, shutting down production from Wind Turbines.
IT DOESN’T MATTER IF IT IS FOR MINUTES, HOURS OR DAYS. INTERRUPTIONS OF ELECTRICITY SUPPLY PRECLUDE WIND TURBINES FROM EVER BEING CONSIDERED TO BE A PRACTICAL OR ECONOMIC PROPOSITION FOR POWERING A MODERN SOCIETY WITH BASE LOAD ELECTRICITY 24/7.
FOR THE ABOVE REASONS, IT IS VITALLY IMPORTANT THAT NO CLOSED COAL FIRED POWER STATION BE DEMOLISHED AS THEY CERTAINLY WILL BE NEEDED IN THE FUTURE
