The 557 claimants in the recent High Court litigation plus the newly discovered 900+ cases of wrongful prosecution are in a last ditch attempt to secure justice for all involved.  We want to take our case to the Parliamentary Ombudsman to make a claim of 'maladministration' against the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) for failing in their statutory duty of managing Post Office Ltd.  This department 100% owns Post Office on behalf of the government and ultimately the public.  The government has repeatedly used the line that this is an 'Arms Length Body', 'runs independently of government' or that it is a 'commercial entity'  without direct government involvement.  When you read the recent submissions to the BEIS Select Committee inquiry from EX Post Office CEO Paula Vennells it is very clear that ministers of BEIS and UKGI (UK Government Investments) sat in on numerous board meetings and helped make crucial decisions.  It was even more apparent during the court case as when Post Office had to make a £5 million payment on account after our first trial success, QC David Cavendar acting on behalf of POL said that it would require engagement with their shareholder to arrange payment!  This means that those ministers over the years KNEW exactly what was going on behind the scenes yet they chose to ignore it, hoping it would just all go away over time.  What they didn't expect is us Postmasters to fight back and actually win, uncovering all the cover-ups along the way.

In order to make this complaint of 'maladministration' we have had to recruit a specialist QC to prepare the paperwork so the government doesn't have any loopholes to try contest this application.  The cost of doing this is £98,000 incl VAT.  As of a few minutes ago we had raised £96,272 leaving us just £1728 short of our target.  If there is any small amount you can chip in prior to the deadline please do so, in the knowledge of when/if we are successful you can claim a refund of this pledge from the JFSA website as long as you have the email receipt once your pledge is charged on Wednesday night.  If you would prefer some money to go to charity (at least 25%) you can donate to the GoFundMe page that I created for the C2C 135 mile challenge which was completed in under 72 hours on Saturday 11th July 2020.  I have pledged the 75% raised so far to the Crowd Justice page.
