The support received over the past few days has been nothing short of phenomenal, adding just over 800 signatures in 2 days over the weekend! We set a target of 2,000 for the end of January and we have far exceeded that with your support.
Speaking on behalf of the claimants I cannot begin to tell you how much the support means to each and everyone of us.
For those following the case closely it was today reported in @computerweekly that the police will now investigating Fujitsu for the role they played in this scandal and possible contempt of court for misleading statements they and their employees made. You can read about it here :- https://www.computerweekly.com/news/252477368/Police-sent-information-about-potential-Fujitsu-staff-perjury-in-subpostmaster-prosecutions
This is yet another reason why a Judicial Enquiry simply must now take place to find out how Post Office was allowed to act the way they did, have draconian out of date and unfair contracts and mislead the public, its Sub Postmasters and the government (BEIS Select Committee) on numerous occasions.
The judgements were extremely damning verdicts and I am certain for those who have not read them would be quite shocked at how a brand as trusted as the Post Office has behaved over the years and maintained the same narrative regardless of the information provided to it and knowing the truth all along.
This petition will be delivered to the relevant minister and Downing Street to demand that the enquiry is launched to finally get to the bottom of this National Scandal and end the suffering for all those affected once and for all. Most importantly hold those responsible for their actions to account, introduce new fair contracts for existing Postmasters and ensure those that suffered are compensated for their losses.
Government has recently tried to distance itself from this entire mess but their have a member sitting on the board of Post Office and during some Freedom of Information requests it shows that BEIS, the minister and Accounting officer are responsible for the decisions and actions of its ‘Arms Length Businesses’ one of which is the Post Office. This information can be found in the National Audit Office documents that have been obtained by a supporter of our group.
We require as many signatures as possible to make our voices be heard. All that we ask is that you share the petition with someone you know....friend/family member/neighbour or local business and ask them to take a look. If each supporter is able to find one person to sign we can double our current total to over 5,000.
The petition will remain open until early February. There are copies of the paper version of this petition for those that would like them in a local business....to receive this please email chrishead1@icloud.com or send a DM on twitter to @chrish9070
Thank you again for all your support!
