Tragic loss today — lost architecture, history and culture. Lost economic opportunity.

After a months’ long fight, today we lost our battle to save the Piety Hill Chancery as the Diocese wasted no time in bringing in the bulldozer early Saturday morning.

Thank you to all of you who signed this Petiton and made your voice heard. Thank you to the majority of City Council members that supported our fight. While we lost the Battle, we put up a hard fight.

And when you think about it, what did the Diocese really win? 

They got the privilege of tearing down our history, culture and architecture — losing an economic development opportunity —and destroying an important anchor at the heart of our neighborhood.

So, who really won?

It’s a sad day.
