May 20, 2016 — Reminder: Birmingham city council's consultation deadline for Smithfield, the wholesale markets site in Digbeth is on Monday 23rd May. If you agree that the proposed park, that came as a result of our campaign, is not transformative for our city (it is in fact smaller than the cathedral green - see attached map) then please tell the council through their website (http://www.birmingham.gov.uk/birminghamsmithfield). The alternative vision is to put markets and cultural buildings within a green landscape filling up to 20 football pitches. This is a once in a lifetime chance to make such a transformation for our city. The change.org petition is also still active until monday so please tell others to sign - the updated petition will also be sent to the council on monday evening.
